Character Backstory

Cobb is a scarecrow with a pumpkin for a head and lives in his own little cottage with a beautiful garden full of flowers and vegetables. Before he lived in this cottage, he lived with the old witch who had brought him to life with her magic. She also had a garden, but was always having trouble with crows picking at her pumpkins. She loved making pumpkin pies for her granddaughter, but it was always so troublesome to see how many of her pumpkins had been eaten by those horrible crows.
So one day she decided to make a scarecrow to deal with the little pests, but it sadly didn’t help anything at all and the crows just kept coming back and ruining her harvest. So she came up with a better plan. She sewed up another scarecrow and picked one of her best-looking pumpkins from her garden to use as the head. Then with a wave of her wand and the right magic words, Cobb was born.
She figured that if a still, lifeless scarecrow wouldn’t work, then a living one ought to do the trick; especially with how scary she made him. It wouldn’t be long now until the crows would see him and lose all of their feathers trying to get away from him, and finally she could harvest her pumpkins in peace. What she didn’t expect, however, was for Cobb to refuse to go out into the garden and scare all of the crows away.
Cobb, despite his frightening appearance, turned out to be a very nice scarecrow and he didn’t want to be mean and scare the crows, so instead he would just sit in the garden and admire the flowers all day; and because he did that, the crows would still come and just continue to eat the pumpkins again.

This angered the witch, so she eventually kicked him out and left him on his own. Cobb was anxious about living by himself at first, but it didn’t take him long to see the bright side of things and start anew. So he found his cottage and started planting his own garden, and he was living a happy life. That is, until his garden started to get invaded by crows.
