Character Backstory
Carina is a cute, seven year old
witch girl and is the youngest of her many siblings. Since she’s the youngest,
she is always seen as “the baby” of the family and is also treated as such no
matter what she says or does. She is quite skilled at potion brewing and simple
spells for her age, but because she is so young and has many siblings, her
skills are usually ignored; and if they aren’t, they’re always seen as childish
instead of skillful.
She hates being called the baby and she hates
being called cute despite how adorable she is. She does not want to be cute,
she wants to be feared by everyone.
Her dream when she grows up is to
be an evil sorceress and to live in a dark castle with all of her henchmen and
maybe even a dragon, and to become the most feared witch in all of the magical
land, but it’s hard to be feared when everyone thinks you’re too cute to do
anything bad. So her dream seems nearly impossible considering how no one ever
takes her seriously.
She could blatantly say that she
wanted to turn all of her family into toads and use them for experiments and
they would all just laugh it off and talk about how cute or silly she was
being, or how “kids say the darndest things”, but in reality, she had meant
every word. If the moment arose, she wouldn’t hesitate to transform all of them
into her henchmen and then maybe they would all finally see her true potential
as a witch.
Down the road, however, she’ll begin to realize
that her cuteness is actually not a bad thing at all and she’ll start to use
that to her own advantage.

Toll Booth
Carina had finally managed to
figure out the perfect spell to enchant her mom’s car to drive it the Magical
Herb Shoppe in the next town over without getting caught, but she had to hurry
because her parents would be home in an hour and she didn’t want them to know
of her secret plans. Not that they would really do anything if they found out,
they’d probably just think she was brewing a nonsense potion, but she still
wanted to get there and get there fast.
The car drove recklessly through
the city streets, nearly running people over, but she paid no mind to it and
just made the car drive as fast as she wanted it to, that is until she reached
a line of cars waiting for something and the car stopped itself.
Hey, what’s the big idea?!” She
yelled at the car who suddenly had a mind of its own. She looked out the
window; right, the toll booth! She totally forgot about that!
She didn’t bring any money with her
to pay to get through, but no matter, she could just ram the car through easy. Carina
waved her wand and tried to floor the gas pedal, but the car wouldn’t listen
and she had to keep waving her wand until it worked. Still, the car ended up
not doing what she wanted until all of the cars ahead of her were through the
booth.
“Ugh, how annoying. I don’t wanna
wait for these slow pokes to get through stupid way.”
She waited impatiently for the line
to shorten and happily floored the gas pedal again. The car broke through
without any problems and she continued on her way to the Magical Herb Shoppe,
hoping she wouldn’t come across any more delays.
I like that your character tries to be something that's different from what people assume her to be. I think it makes the character more interesting that way. I also like that she starts to use her cuteness to her own advantage. However, I'm not sure she wants to be evil. I thought she'd just want recognition. Maybe she did something bad and she found a thrill from it. Is she not skilled enough to turn her family into toads yet? It's mentioned that she wouldn't hesitate to do that to her family.
ReplyDeleteFor the toll booth story, I think your character acts the way she's supposed to, but I'm not entirely sure why the car just stopped. It looks like your character doesn't understand why the car stopped listening to her too. I think it would have been interesting if she had a recollection about the spell she used and it the spell wasn't really what she thought it was. I can understand the car stopping because it didn't want to run into the other cars but I think it would have been interesting to see an explanation.
